Prerequisite : Secondary III (Grade 9)

To prepare students to practice the trade of Painter in both the residential and commercial sectors. Painters carry out a variety of tasks, such as :

> apply finishes to protect and decorate surfaces in residential buildings, commercial buildings, institutional and industrial buildings and construction sites

> prepare different surfaces (wood, masonry, plaster, chalky and synthetic surfaces, cement, metal) before applying materials such as paint, high performance coverings, waterproof materials, flame retardant materials, varnish, lacquer, wall coverings and special finishes.

> preparing and finishing work is determined by the nature and quality of the surface, as well as the finish desired.

  • A Secondary School Diploma or its recognized equivalent OR
  • Be at least 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which the training is to begin and have earned the Secondary III credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister, or have been granted recognition of equivalent learning OR
  • Be at least 18 years of age upon entry into the program and have the following functional prerequisites: the successful completion of the General Development Test or recognition of equivalent learning
